Here is the mountain we're climbing next weekend!

This is my buddy Salif playing with Rufus. I think he's like 12 years old. The kid studies the Koran and speaks about 4 different languages... he is very bright and helps out when we us PCVs are in Douentza.

This is me and Rufus hanging out in Douentza... as you can see he really likes to gnaw on my hand.
I start teaching English tomrorrow... I have never taught before, so this should be a trip. Ha teaching English through Fulfulde!

Wow Dave
how cool! I am glad you posted the photo of Salif so I can now put a face with the name and the beautiful voice of the sweet boy I "chatted" with on Sunday!

You look great. Healty and happy! All a mother could ask for!

Hope you read the post from the ladies last night. They are all so proud of you and amazed at what you are doing as well as where and how you are living!

I miss you terribly, but happy to know you are doing so well.

Love
Mom

Merry Christmas. You are such a special guy. Papa and I are so proud of you. Seeing these pictures and reading your blog makes it easier to keep in touch and feel that you are not so far away. You are receiving so many wonderful experiences that you will pass on when you come home to the US. What ever you do ...you do well David. After all you are Munsell-Griffin. Have fun and keep up the good work there. Rufus is so cute. Will he have to stay there when you come home?
Let me know what you want for Xmas or just $$FRANCS??

I talked to Mom and I guess the franc was not a good idea because there is a difference North vs South franc and Thomas has South franc. So I hope that the package I send gets to you sooner than New Years.I understand M&Ms is a must also along with BBQ sauce. No..not together. haha I am sending it out today.

Hey Dave:

Trust you are adjustng to life in Africa. I just got home last week and am struggling with the cold. The dry season was upon us in Chad and the locals are starting to burn the bush so the air is always full of dust and smoke. Rufus is just like the dogs I see in Chad that the locals use for huntung, is that the case in Mali also. Hey have a great time and holiday

Hi Davey --
As we say in the vet industry: welcome to the wonderful world of dog ownership! Rufus looks like a very cute pup! But try substituting a stick instead of your fingers!
You look great-- the food must be agreeing with you now!
Erica probably told you my cousin Roxanne Lippel (Roxy) will be in Mali the end of December and will try to connect with you.
Keep having fun -- teaching English will probably be easier than you think -- I am sure the kids all look up to you!
